Young Creatives Wales: Spacecraft

I was part of the first special publication of the ‘Spacecraft’ sponsored by Amgueddfa Cymru and the National Lottery Fund, which celebrates young talent from across Wales. ‘With poetry, illustration, sculpture, photography, studio visits and interviews, this issue is an introduction to what spacecraft is and will be: a space for artists and art makers, their places of work and inspiration (studios, cafes, museums, cathedrals, apartments, flats, swamps, and many more). ‘ - Young Creatives Wales
I was invited to create a bespoke knitted artwork design for the spine and back cover of the journal for the first special edition publication.
For this commission I created a body of work exploring ideas of tactility, playfulness and sensory materials, through digital knit and bioplastic. The soft sculptures were made to create a sense of playfulness yet calm and safety. Alongside the bioplastic which were made with the intent for people to interact with them and to evoke weird yet wonderful feelings.
Selected pieces from this body of work were also exhibited in the Spacecraft exhibition in Cardiff Umbrella Gallery.
